Ahoy, sailing fans and everyone who loves the sun, sea and feeling of salt on your skin! My name is Gilbert Seric and I'm here to make you fall in love with Croatia and what this country has to offer to its tourists. A few months ago, as I was browsing the Internet on a search for my next sailing adventure, I discovered an amazing sailing area in Croatia that goes by the name of Kastela. Although I have sailed to many great destinations on the Adriatic, I had never been to Kastela, so you can imagine how excited I was to start my journey as soon as possible.
I was able to rent my favorite line of sailing yacht, the Bavaria. German quality is the best and most reliable ship building brand on today's yacht market. The company I rent all my boats is called SailingEurope. They are a very good and helpful agency that specializes in these kind of things. If you're ever in the need of a vessel, look them up, you won't be sorry. Now, onwards to my unforgettable journey!
My chartered Bavaria was waiting for me in the ACI Marina Split, because Kastela is a group of seven small towns, situated near the city of Split. When I came in the vicinity of Kastela, I turned off my engine and just enjoyed the view from far out, on the sea, alone in the peacefulness and serenity. It was an amazing moment to behold, one that I will remember for the rest of my life.
Because the town of Kastela has a lot to offer, there were plenty of things for me to see and explore on foot. Seven settlements were waiting for me.
The first settlement I came upon was Kastel Gomilica, which was built by the Benedictine nuns from Split. Second was Kastel Kambelovac, built by an aristocratic family from Split, and my favorite from this trip. Kastel Luksic was next. It was built as a castle in the 15th century. It seemed rather unique in comparison to the other six settlements. The new and old castle, Kastel Novi and Kastel Stari, are two settlements you shouldn't miss out. Kastel Sucurac and Kastel Stafilic were the last on my list. Both were masterpieces with their monumental architecture. I even managed to rest in one of them.
This concludes my journey in Kastela. I had a lot of fun exploring the old castles and hope you will have a good time too. It is really an exceptional feeling of adventure when you're in the unknown, discovering things for the first time. Things that make you love Croatia even more!
